Why Documentation Costs Vary by Country
Every destination has its own import rules — knowing them before you ship saves time and money.
01
Middle East Requires Attestation
UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries require Embassy-attested commercial documents and Certificate of Origin. Saudi Arabia additionally mandates SASO Certificate of Conformity for most product categories — one of the costliest documentation requirements globally (₹10,000–15,000).
02
EU/UK: Standards & GSP
The EU and UK require CE/UKCA declarations for electronics and machinery. Food exporters need sanitary certificates. An EUR.1 or DCTS Form A (GSP certificate) can save your buyer significant import duty — making your product more competitive on price even though it costs you only ₹600.
03
Plan Before You Quote
Documentation costs of ₹5,000–₹30,000 per shipment can seriously erode margins on small orders. Always calculate your total documentation cost upfront, include it in your export price, and consider consolidating shipments to spread these fixed costs over a higher invoice value.
